- not without the bike
Four topics comes to my mind when saying Singapore: urban master planning, street kitchens with world class food, reflexology - treatment for feet and body and the tropic heat. All four topics are included when you join Bike Mike on his daily "retreat" bike tour discoveries around some of Singapore's highways and in-particularly by-ways. With every pedalstroke you will sense the love and admiration for the Lion City pouring from Bike Mike's guidance. There is no set agenda with points to see on the daily "retreat" journey's, not two tours will be identical. But the outing will provide you with a feel and impressions of Singapore unparellelled to any other discovery option. The "retreat" journey's start and finish in the city centre.

The Experience

Singapore and cycling is probably not what comes to mind at first when thinking of how to discover the Lion City. Walking is tiresome and slow in the tropical heat, you don’t get anywhere. Choice of sightseeing by bus is old hat all the way - see ya later! Cycling is amazingly easy as we slowly and effortlessly cruise through the cityscape - and you will cover lots of ground in relative little time. It’s an awesome experience guided safely by Bike Mike. Right from the streets of Copenhagen – the world’s bicycling capital – you can rest assured regarding your safety and focus entirely on discovery and stimulating your senses. Bike Mike could ride a bike before he could walk. He has cycled for more than 50 years – in his native Copenhagen and all over the world. Bicycle touring is carbon neutral sightseeing: good for you, good for Singapore and good for Mother Earth.

Singapore & Bike Mike
On December 17th 1977 I arrived Singapore first time when stepping off the train from Malaysia at the Tanjong Pagar railway station.
Reading my old diary from that day, I read:
I checked in at the Hai Chew hotel on Beach Road – three blocks east of Raffles Hotel – at SGD 8.00 per night, I enjoyed my first hot shower in more than three months backpacking through East Asia and I stuffed myself with KFC (shame on me, but I was a foodie ignorant back then, sorry).
Since that day – over the past 35 years or 75% of the time of the state of Singapore’s existence - I have returned regularly. My own eyes and mind has viewed the massive changes at all levels of life in Singapore. And Singapore has taught me to dine in style – her food scene is my absolute favorite in any of the more than 100 countries I have visited.
