city tour -summer season

Legendary sights, sounds & stories coming at you from a straight-shooting local. 50/50 mix of cycling/stops for uninterrupted storytelling from the get-go.

Copenhagen street-soul by the bucket-load. Experience 1000 years of culture and history in an action-packed 3 hours with uninterrupted story-telling from the get-go. See a cross-section of my city with a 50/50 mix of cycling and stops. Unpredictability lies at the core of the Bike Mike experience, you’re in for the ride of a lifetime — expect the unexpected. Major stops: 1/ FOOD. Denmark’s belly: open sandwiches, New Nordic cuisine & a passion for pork. 2/ HISTORY. The tapestry of our Citadel: God, King & country. 3/ LIVELIHOOD. Lifestyle and growth: Little Mermaid sculpture. Clean, green living & Vestas, Lego, Novo, ARLA, Maersk plus many other world business leaders: all made in Denmark. 4/ POLITICS. A favourite pastime: we crave universal welfare like there is no tomorrow. Christiansborg Castle, the home of political life in the old kingdom over a course of six hundred years. 5/ SPIRITUALITY. Our foundations: Grundtvig, Denmark’s spiritual father — many Danes think of singing, folk high-schools, enlightenment, our school system, the co-operative movement and its link to farming, butter, bacon. 6/ “HYGGE”. Feed the soul: stop at Copenhagen’s most cozy city square for hygge. Minor Stops: Say hello to our royal family at Amalienborg Castle, old Nyhavn – the colourful canal zone and home to H.C. Andersen and his fairytales. Experience the cultural soul of Copenhagen and her endless public spaces. Cruise along our harbour and take in the checkered mix of historic and contemporary architecture.

This tour is the shortest distance wise and is not overly physically demanding. That said, it is by far the most technically challenging ride. Expect urban chaos: cobblestones, curbs, narrow streets, gates and whatever else Bike Mike throws your way. Not suited to the faint-hearted. Group size: max. 18 persons over the age of 15. Good cycling skills are an absolute must — sorry, no time for stragglers.

Winter time on two wheels in Copenhagen...

can be a challenge due to the unfriendly, harsh climate conditions. But us Danes have ways to overcome the dark times. Like sinking a little sharp shot of "bikemike moonshine". That will kick start your cold heart on any rainy, windy Copenhagen winter day. Pouring into the shot glasses last Sunday inside the dry Kings Gate at Borgen, faces look sceptical, but seconds later, all smiles and laughter.
Thats the spirit we in Denmark call: "hyggeligt"
